Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs beef brisket from Eastern Halal Butcher
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

Step 2

Sear the Brisket: Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 3

Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same pot, add sliced onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.

Step 4

Add Spices: Stir in ground cumin, ground coriander, smoked paprika, ground cinnamon, ground black pepper, and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 5

Combine Ingredients: Add beef broth, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar to the pot. Stir to combine.

Step 6

Cook the Brisket: Return the brisket to the pot, ensuring it is submerged in the sauce. Cover with a lid and transfer the pot to the preheated oven. Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
