Mutton Chapli Kebab
Authentic Peshawari Chapli Kebab, Made In-Store
Chapli kebab is one of the great street foods of Peshawar, and our version stays true to the original. We make it in-store from minced halal mutton seasoned the traditional Peshawari way, then shape it into flat patties ready for your pan. The name says it all: “chapli” means flat, and that thin, wide shape is what gives these kebabs their signature crispy edges.
Bold, Rustic Flavour
What sets a chapli kebab apart is its texture. Crushed coriander seed, tangy pomegranate, green chilli, fresh tomato and onion are mixed through the mutton, giving every bite a coarse, rustic character that’s quite different from a smooth kofta or seekh kebab. The result is bold, aromatic and deeply satisfying, with around 20g of protein per 100g cooked.
How to Cook Mutton Chapli Kebab
- Shallow fry: Cook over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until crisp at the edges and cooked through.
- The traditional way: Chapli kebabs are traditionally cooked in the fat that renders from the meat, so you’ll need very little oil.
- Keep them thin: Flatter patties crisp up properly and cook evenly.
- Don’t rush the crust: Leave the patties in place until a crust forms before flipping.
How to Serve
Serve hot with fresh naan, onion rings, green chutney and a squeeze of lemon. Chapli kebabs are perfect for a weekend breakfast, a family dinner, a barbecue spread or entertaining guests.
